WATCH: Maya Okonkwo takes on the SimGains reference lab
The two-time drift champion swapped the start line for Mission Control — and set a lap on the studio rig that surprised even our engineers.

Two-time drift champion Maya Okonkwo spent an afternoon at SimGains HQ this month, trading the paddock for Mission Control and admitting that she and her race engineer are both, in her words, "completely obsessed" with chasing lap time on the reference tools.
Okonkwo was given an access-all-areas tour of the studio and talked her way into a few rooms that, as she put it, "I'm not sure everyone gets to see." That included Mission Control, where the team walked her through how a single reference lap is built from thousands of clean laps across the grid.
The headline act, of course, was a flying lap on the studio rig in the Gaming Studio. Okonkwo qualified quicker than three of our engineers on the same reference — then spent twenty minutes at the brake-trace screen picking apart exactly where the last tenth was hiding.
And no visit to the telemetry lab would be complete without stopping by the corner-insight desk to talk shop about trail braking, coasting and the two corners she says "cost everyone time and nobody admits it."

The full film is above. If it leaves you wanting to see where your own laps leak time, that part is free — the same reference tools Okonkwo used ship in the SimGains app.
